Ouest: Heading West
I spent half of October 2024 walking, alone, on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela — then I kept going until the ocean, to Fisterra, the “end of the land.”
This collection follows that journey, always pushing further west: the Camino de Santiago inspired the first passage of this book. Passages 2 and 3 explore other journeys, more inward ones, the paths of the heart. Finally, passages 4 and 5 turn toward the Pacific Ocean and the melancholic beaches of Northern California, which bring this collection to a close.
The five passages
Más caminos
1
“The moment our eyes met, he whispered: ‘You’re walking the wrong path.’ Then, without a sound, he walked away.”
In Wait for the Clouds
2
“You opened your mouth, a bloom unfolding, and spoke softly into my ear. I’ll remember those words, petals of cotton touched by the morning mist.”
Our Lonely Paths
3
“You may have to leave, break the thread of days, already loosened, and take that little path, without looking back.”
5
Obsidian Shores
Sad California
4
“The sad shores of California welcomed me with silence. The wind, heavy with memories, brushes against lost dreams.”
“On the obsidian beach, the sea is rising — but this time, you don’t fear it.
Gently, she caresses your feet, tired from the journey.”
